Add the Ukrainian flag to your Twitter and Instagram profiles

Add something yellow, something blue on your website or in your social media posts, in text or images. For inspiration, check for instance the hashtags #Ukraine and #blueandyellow on Instagram. There are also plenty of free images tagged “Ukraine” or something similar on Pixabay. Add the Ukrainian flag and blue and yellow heart emojis in your posts. Display sunflowers.

The sunflower is the national flower of Ukraine. It’s a symbol of peace, and now also resistance, after a video of a Ukrainian woman offering sunflower seeds to a heavily armed Russian soldier went viral — “so at least sunflowers will grow when you all lie down here,” she told him. Displaying sunflowers has become one of many ways to show solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

Pantone has released two new colors dedicated to the blue and yellow in the Ukrainian flag:

Freedom Blue

Hex (approx.): #005eb8

RGB (approx.): 0 94 184

Energizing Yellow

Hex (approx.): #ffd101

RGB (approx.): 255 209 1

Add the Ukrainian flag to your Facebook profile image

1. Click the camera icon on your profile picture.

2. Choose Edit profile picture.

3. In the “Update profile picture” window, click Add Frame.

4. If it doesn’t show already, type “Ukraine” in the search box to view the options and make your selection.

5. Choose a time period under “Switch back to previous profile picture in.”

6. Click Use as Profile Picture.

Add the Ukrainian flag to your Twitter and Instagram profiles

Twitter and Instagram don’t offer the same profile picture features as Facebook, but you can add the flag emoji next to your screen name. Choose Edit profile, tap the “Name” field and use the emoji keyboard to choose the flag. This works on the Twitter and Instagram phone apps but not on computers. Windows 10 does have an emoji keyboard (press the Windows key + .) but it doesn’t include any flags.
